Waterproof LED Headlights: We Dunked It, Froze It, and Hammered It — It Still Worked
Water. Ice. A hammer. Most headlight bulbs wouldn’t survive one of those — let alone all three.
We put the Keon Sondra LED through exactly that kind of punishment. Watch the video above and see what happened. Spoiler: it came out the other side still blazing white. Here’s a breakdown of everything we threw at it.
Test #1: The Water Dunk
First up, we submerged our KS LED headlight fully in water. Not a drizzle, not a splash. A full dunk. And it kept shining the whole time, no flicker, no fade.
Now try that with a halogen or HID bulb. Halogens are extremely sensitive to moisture, even touching one with your bare hands during installation can cause it to fail early. HIDs run incredibly hot, and water contact while they’re warm? That’s an instant crack or burnout. The KS LED doesn’t have those problems because it doesn’t have the fragile components that cause them.
Test #2: Frozen Solid
We took it a step further. The KS LED was frozen, like fully encased in a block of ice — and guess what? It was still lit up inside. Glowing through solid ice.
That’s not a trick. That’s just what happens when a bulb has no filament to snap, no gas to contract, and no sensitive parts that give up under temperature stress. Solid state LED technology handles cold just as well as it handles heat. Whether you’re driving through a cold mountain pass in Benguet or just parked in a freezing garage overnight, the KS LED wakes up and works. Every. Time.
Test #3: Hammered Out of the Ice and Plugged Back In
Here’s where it gets really satisfying. After being frozen solid, we didn’t just let the ice melt. We hammered it out. Actual hammer, actual force, breaking through the ice block to get the bulb free.
And then we plugged it back in. It. Still. Worked. Blazing white, just like before.
That’s the kind of durability that makes you stop and think about what your current headlights could — or couldn’t — survive.
What This Means for Everyday Driving
Okay, so you probably won’t be dunking your headlights in water or freezing them into a block of ice anytime soon. But here’s why this matters in real life: roads in the Philippines are tough. Heavy rain, flash floods, rough surfaces, extreme heat followed by sudden cold downpours. Your headlights take a beating every single drive.
Knowing your KS LED can survive a hammer after being frozen solid? That’s peace of mind for whatever the road actually throws at you.
Low Maintenance. High Output. Built Tough.
Up to 9,000 lumens of blazing white light. Fanless design. Plug-and-play installation. And now — proven tough through water, ice, and impact.
